Osteopathy in Pregnancy and Women’s Health
Dedicated osteopathic support designed for women to accompany them during pregnancy and promote pelvic health.
What to Expect During the Session
The treatment exclusively uses gentle, non-invasive manual techniques that are extremely safe for both the expectant mother and the baby. Areas subject to greater load are treated, such as the lumbosacral spine, pelvis, and diaphragm, improving the body’s adaptability to the postural changes of gestation.
The Science Behind the Treatment
During pregnancy, the secretion of the hormone relaxin increases ligamentous laxity, altering the body’s center of gravity. Osteopathic treatment helps balance fascial and muscular tensions around the pelvis, facilitating sacral mobility and reducing compression on nerves and blood vessels (preventing disorders such as sciatica or swelling).
Recovery Time
Sessions can be scheduled monthly or as needed to accompany the different stages of pregnancy. A check-up is also strongly recommended approximately 40 days after childbirth to assist the body in correctly readjusting its posture and decompressing the pelvis.
